When should hoarseness or a neck lump be checked?
If hoarseness, a neck lump, difficulty swallowing or a mouth ulcer lasts more than three weeks, see an ENT specialist, especially if you use tobacco.
What are the warning signs of mouth cancer?
A mouth ulcer or white or red patch that does not heal, a lump, pain or bleeding in the mouth, or difficulty opening the mouth. Early checks give far better outcomes.
How is a thyroid lump checked?
Thyroid blood tests, an ultrasound of the neck and a fine-needle test (FNAC). Most thyroid nodules are not cancer.
