Assessment
Examination inside and outside the nose, photographs and a frank discussion of what can and cannot be changed. Breathing is assessed at the same visit.
Treatment
Done under anaesthesia, usually through small cuts inside the nose. The septum is straightened in the same operation when it blocks breathing.
Recovery
Splints and swelling for the first week or two. Most swelling settles over weeks, and the final shape takes several months.

What is the difference between rhinoplasty and septoplasty?

Septoplasty straightens the inside wall of the nose to improve breathing and does not change the outside shape. Rhinoplasty changes the outside shape; septorhinoplasty does both.

Can rhinoplasty improve breathing?

Yes, when the blockage comes from the septum or the nasal valves. Breathing is assessed before surgery so both are planned together.

Is there a visible scar?

Most of the work is done through cuts inside the nose. Some operations need a small cut across the skin between the nostrils, which usually heals well.

When will I see the final result?

Most swelling settles in a few weeks; the final shape takes several months to show.
