The septum is the wall between the two sides of the nose. When it is bent, one or both sides block. Septoplasty straightens it from inside the nose.

नाक की हड्डी टेढ़ी हो तो क्या ऑपरेशन ज़रूरी है?
हर टेढ़ी हड्डी में ऑपरेशन ज़रूरी नहीं। अगर नाक लगातार बंद रहे, खर्राटे या बार-बार साइनस हो और दवा से आराम न मिले, तो सेप्टोप्लास्टी की सलाह दी जा सकती है। यह ऑपरेशन नाक के अंदर से होता है, बाहर कोई निशान नहीं आता।

What is a deviated septum? (नाक की हड्डी टेढ़ी होना / बढ़ना)
The septum, the wall between the two sides of the nose, is bent towards one side and narrows the airway. Many people have a slight bend without symptoms; it needs treatment only when it blocks breathing or causes repeated problems.
Do I need surgery for a deviated septum?
Not always. If symptoms are mild or caused mainly by swelling or allergy, sprays and medicines may be enough. Septoplasty is advised when the bend itself blocks the nose.
Is septoplasty done from inside the nose?
Yes. Septoplasty is done through the nostril, with no cut on the outside of the nose.
Will septoplasty change the shape of my nose?
Septoplasty alone does not change the outside shape. If the outside of the nose is also crooked, septorhinoplasty can be discussed.
