Common questions

Questions patients ask us.

Mareezon ke aam sawaal.

Why do I feel dizzy when I turn in bed? (चक्कर आना)

The most common cause is BPPV, where tiny crystals in the inner ear move into a balance canal. It is diagnosed with a positional test and usually treated with a repositioning manoeuvre.

Is vertigo serious?

Most vertigo comes from the inner ear and is not dangerous. Go to emergency at once if it comes with a sudden severe headache, weakness, slurred speech or double vision.

Can an ENT doctor treat vertigo?

Yes. Most vertigo arises in the inner ear, which ENT specialists examine and treat, with hearing and balance tests on site.

Which tests are done for vertigo?

Positional tests, an ear examination and a hearing test; balance tests (VNG) or an MRI when the history needs them.

How long does treatment take?

BPPV often settles after one or two repositioning sessions. Other causes may need balance exercises over a few weeks.
